Forget everything you thought you knew about sausage rolls.
With this amazing recipe, you will never look at a petrol station sausage roll again!
Even at 3am on a Saturday morning, when the kebab shop is closed (this recipe makes enough to freeze, so you'll wait till you get home!)
• Sausage Mince | 250g
• Beef Mince | 250g
• Garlic (Minced) | 1 tsp
• Fresh Bread Crumb I 1 cup
• Carrot | 1 Grated
• Zucchini I 1 Grated
• Onion I 1 Grated
• Eggs I 2 I Use one egg to egg wash the pastry
• Salt I to taste
• Pepper I to taste
• Puff Pastry I 3 Sheets
• Parsley | ½ Bunch
STEP 1 Get a large mixing bowl. Place all the ingredients in the bowl (only one egg) and mix together till all the ingredients are combined evenly.
STEP 2 Defrost 3 sheets of puff pastry. Cut the pastry sheets in two.
STEP 3 Spoon approx. 120g of the mixture in the middle of the pastry half. Egg wash the edges of the puff pastry with the second egg and roll the pastry around the mixture ensuring there is some overlap of pastry.
STEP 4 Place sausage roll so the overlap of pastry is on the underside. Cut the sausage roll in quarters. TIP: wet the knife before cutting!
STEP 5 Egg wash the outer area of the pastry and sprinkle with poppy seeds.
STEP 6 Place the portions on baking paper on a baking tray. Put in a pre-heated oven of 180 OC for 20 minutes or until cooked through and golden brown.
This recipe is perfect to make extra and freeze raw to cook later!
