Full of flavour and rich coconut texture, these choc hazelnut macaroons offer a sweet surprise from the very first bite! This is a great one to get the kids excited about cooking!
- Butter | A little over 1/2 Cup
- Brown Sugar | 1/2 Cup | Packed
- 1 Egg
- Milk | 1/4 Cup
- Coconut Essence | 1/2 Teaspoon
- Plain Flour | 1 1/2 Cups
- Shredded Coconut | 1 Cup
- Hazelnut Chocolate | 1/2 Cup
STEP 1 | Cream 1/2 cup butter and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add the egg, milk, and coconut essence and beat well until creamy. Slowly add the flour. Stir in the coconut.
STEP 2 | Roll the dough into 3cm balls and set on wax paper. Make an indentation in the center of each ball. Fill with hazelnut chocolate. Cover the chocolate with a small flattened piece of dough. Seal the edges and roll into a ball again. (the dough is very sticky) Repeat with any remaining dough.
STEP 3 | Place the dough balls onto an ungreased baking sheet about 5cm apart. Bake at 190 degrees Celsius for 9-10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
Keep in a sealed container for best taste.
